Here we look at some of the easiest chord substitution tricks - you'll be able to substitute any chord with a completely different one after competing this lesson.

This is the perfect lesson for beginning chord substitution!

NOTES: Here's a previous lesson on chord families (I cover chord families and functions in-depth here with examples).

Grab the FULL COLOR PDF of all the slides in the video here (Patreon members).

Here is the lesson (and video) on 'any chord can be a dominant' that I talk about in the video

Homework: Write down some charts (like the ones in the video) in other keys and have some fun with this - Find more chord relationships and write those down as well... Use these tricks with other chord progressions.

The idea is - after this lesson - any beginner will be able to easily substitute chords on the fly.

Chord substitution is not only a great way to spice up a chord progression but you can also choose an easier chord to play - for example:  You will learn here that you can play a Dm7 rather than a more complicated F major 7 chord.

Do me a favor and 'like' the video on YouTube and post a comment (on YouTube) to let me know what you think - thanks!

The Audio is recorded with this: Tascam DR-40X Four Track Handheld Recorder and USB Interface - it's a 4 track recorder so it'll come in handy for some great sounding home recording - or for you to record you next album!
