Here we solve the B FLAT problem you might have.
Here we look at an easy Bb and some simple chords - that you can already easily play - that you can substitute for the Bb and a wild way to play Bb that I bet you haven't seen...
WATCH:
NOTES: We saw muted notes with many of our other easy chords, they are used all the time - don't be afraid of them.
You can't always use substitutes for difficult chord - in some cases the possibilities for substitutes are harder then the chord you're trying to avoid, but in this case both options for substitutes are very easy and you likely already have mastered them!
Substitutes discussed in the video:
- If you're in the key of F use Gm instead of Bb (it's the relative minor of Bb)
- If you're in the key of Bb use Dm instead of Bb (it's the secondary relative minor of Bb)
So you can use the easy chord in the video or the substitutes if you like.
The last wild variation is great for fingerpicking as I show in the video but can be strummed with the muted note as well.
Here's the fingerpicking pattern:
F Bb
----------3--(4x)---------5--(4x)---
------1-----------------1-------------
---------------------------------------
--2-----------------3-----------------
Also, I wrote a whole book on how to simplify chords "Ukulele Chord Tricks: Simplify any Chord", if you like this check that out too.
