In this, the 3rd installment of Faster Chord Changes in 7 days, we develop the ability to make CHORDS FROM SCRATCH.

We begin to build the 'muscle memory' that's vital for fast chord changes.

What we don't want to do is (muscle memory killers):
  • Move on finger at a time
  • Use different fingerings depending on what key your in
  • Use different fingerings depending on what chord is next or what chord you're coming from
The reason you may rely on the muscle memory killers is because you can't make CHORDS FROM SCRATCH.

Of course, the 'muscle memory killers' WILL prevent you from building muscle memory or slow the process - With CHORDS FROM SCRATCH we distance ourselves from the 'muscle memory killers' and focus simply on making CHORDS FROM SCRATCH.

IMPORTANT: There is NO CHORD we're coming from and NO CHORD we're going to!

Once you develop muscle memory you see a chord on the sheet music and instantly go to the chord - your brain tells your hand where to go - almost without thinking about it.

CHORDS FROM SCRATCH is where we start in the development of muscle memory.

NOTES:

Start with a few chords you are using together frequently - and work on a few chords at a time.

A beginner may only work with C, F and G7 (or G).

Build some muscle memory with those before moving on...

The uke I'm using:
